Q: Which software and tools do you use for digital work?
A: Currently I use an iPad Pro 12.9" with Apple Pencil + Procreate 5X app, and Adobe Photoshop for postproduction.
Q: Why do you draw? What is the goal?
A: If there's something I enjoy more than drawing and communicating is music. Since I was a teenager I recall using graphics to represent what the music I liked made me feel and to be able to connect with other people who had the same interests. I started by creating communities and then I had the opportunity to work for an event producer that held almost every concert of Japanese bands in Chile at the time. The joy I felt to be able to bring people closer to each other by the means of shared interests was what made me realize I wanted to become a Designer. As time passed I started focusing on my illustration work and the goal became a little more self-centered, since later on I realized I also wanted to be part of this connection and not be left apart in the background.
Q: What do you enjoy drawing the most?
A: I usually draw human figure the most. I feel it is easier to convey emotions and messages through something most people relate to (themselves). I found close-up portraits to be the perfect way to express emotions I was not able to express with the sole use of words. A dear friend once told me that my characters have a gaze that imply that "they know something you don't know", and that made a lot of sense to me.
Q: How can I order a commission piece from you?
A: Whenever commissions are open to the open public I ask for a detailed email with all information related to the requested piece as well as reference images. Even when commissions are closed I advise sending an email anyway so I can give you some guidance. Please use the contact form for it or social media platforms.
